Boat owner injured in explosion and fire in Kemah marina
KEMAH, TX (KTRK) -- Firefighters were called to a Kemah marina at about 1:30pm Thursday, when an explosion rocked a boat there, injuring one person. Smoke from the flames that engulfed the boat could be seen for miles.
Firefighters fought the blaze from the ground and by boat. The boat's owner was inside when it started. He suffered burns to his arms and was taken to UTMB in Galveston, listed as stable.
The boat where the fire began now sits on the bottom in the marina. At least three other neighboring boats suffered damage as well.
The owner's dog was on the boat when the fire started. The dog escaped unharmed. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
