Smash and grab leaves gaping hole in Radio Shack
Police are trying to sort out details after a smash and grab left a perfect hole in the store

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police responded to another smash-and-grab this morning at a business just east of downtown Houston.

It happened at the Radio Shack near Lyons and Lockwood around 4am. Photos from the scene show a white older model passenger van being towed from inside the building.

It appears someone driving the van backed into the wall, knocking over shelves and causing thousands of dollars in damage. Police have not released any information or suspect descriptions. A witness who heard the crash came out to find the destruction, but says he didn't see anyone running away.

"It was at one point I was inside I heard, 'ka-boom ka-boom,'" said Byron Thomas, a witness who heard the crash. "Like I said, I'm used to hearing the train collide, clunk together. I thought, yeah, it was kind of a big surprise."

We are gathering information waiting for police to tell us if they have any surveillance video. We'll bring you updates throughout the day.
