There's crime alert in north Houston after a group of men have been linked to several armed robberies

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- There's crime alert in north Houston after a group of men have been linked to several armed robberies.

Harris County Sheriff's Office investigators said five men, with guns drawn and wearing masks, entered the Jewelry Source store in the in the 1000 block of FM 1960.

Before busting the jewelry cases, investigator said some of the men tried to force the employees to one area of the store while the other suspects tried to get into the stores vault. Investigators said the suspects took off with an undetermined amount of jewelry.

"They fled the scene in a light blue Chrysler and went northbound on Nanes Drive," said Harris County Sgt. Eric Batton. "They abandoned that vehicle in the 1000 block of Manatee and entered a red Buick and fled the scene."

Investigators said that same blue Chrysler was used Thursday in a holdup at a gas station nearby.

Investigators said these men are responsible for another jewelry heist that happened on Wednesday off 1960 and Champions Forrest. Investigators said the suspects used a sledgehammer to break the jewelry cases. They took off with Rolex watches and other high-dollar items. They also ditched that getaway car as well.

Batton said the suspects are still on the run.
