HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Montgomery County detectives are asking people to lock their car doors after they say they busted a burglary ring that targeted at least 400 car owners in May.

It's called "car hopping," and it's one of the easiest ways to steal. The suspects allegedly drove through Montgomery County neighborhoods late at night, searched for unlocked cars, and then stole what was inside.

Six suspects have been arrested, including 19-year-old Christopher Jacob Love, 18-year-old Curtis William Petty, and 18-year-old Hunter Vance Harding. The other three suspects are juveniles, so we're not identifying them.

The six of them are accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of items, including several guns, from vehicles.

If your car was hit, contact the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office at 936-760-5876.
