At least four people were killed and more than 40 others injured when a bus carrying a college football team crashed into an overpass in North Carolina today, officials said.
The bus was traveling from Rock Hill, South Carolina, for a game in Fayetteville, North Carolina, when it appears that one of its front tires blew and the bus swerved and hit a guardrail, North Carolina Highway Patrol spokesman Lt. Jeff Gordon said.
There were 46 people on board the bus, which was carrying members of the football team from Ramah Juco Academy, including some students from Clinton College, for a game against the University of God's Chosen, the highway patrol spokesman said.
Four people were declared dead, and the remaining injured were taken to four hospitals in the area: Sand Hill Regional Medical Center, First Health-Richmond, First Health-Moore, and Scotland Memorial Hospital, Gordon said.
