4 killed in 3 vehicle crash outside Fredericksburg

Texas DPS and the Gillespie County Sheriff's Office is investigating a major crash outside Fredericksburg that left three people dead Saturday morning.

FREDERICKSBURG, TX (KTRK) -- Authorities say four people were killed and four others were injured in a three-vehicle accident outside Fredericksburg in Central Texas.



Gillespie County Emergency Management Coordinator John Culpepper tells KENS-TV that the accident happened just before noon on Saturday on U.S. Highway 290 near FM 1376, about five miles east of Fredericksburg.



Texas Department of Public Safety Public Information Officer Orlando Moreno says four victims were transported to hospitals in San Antonio, Austin and Fredericksburg.



Their conditions were not immediately known.



The accident shut down a segment of Highway 290 for several hours on Saturday.



The cause of the accident was still being investigated by authorities.



Fredericksburg is located about 70 miles northwest of San Antonio.
