Golf club ingeniously spared carts from Harvey's wrath
A Lake Jackson golf club saved its equipment from Harvey's wrath.

LAKE JACKSON, Texas (KTRK) -- One local golf club was left with mere feet to spare after moving their equipment to higher ground to escape Harvey's floodwaters.

Staff at The Wilderness at Lake Jackson moved golf carts and lawnmowers up a hill on the green before the floodwaters began to rise, and aerial photos from after the storm show that the crew's actions worked like a charm -- although they certainly cut it close.

In one photo, floodwater had risen to the wheels of some of the lawnmowers on a small island of green surrounded by dark brown floodwater.

Elsewhere on the course, rings of dozens of golf carts were left with a little more room to breathe.

Topography is integral in the planning and construction of a golf course, so the staff is likely intimately acquainted with the highest points on the course.

A YouCaring campaign raising money to support staff members and their families impacted by the flooding has already raised nearly $8,000.
