3 arrested during first Charlottesville council meeting since deadly clash

Three people were arrested Monday night as protesters disrupted the first Charlottesville city council meeting since the deadly clash between white Nationalists and counter-protesters in town.

Protesters interrupted the meeting several times, with some carrying a large banner with the words "Blood on Your Hands."

Chants of "Resign! Resign!" were also directed toward council members.

Protesters aimed their anger at the council primarily for allowing the Unite the Right rally to take place. The ensuing conflict came to a head when a vehicle plowed through a crowd of counter-protesters. A woman was killed and at least 19 others were injured.

The August 12 unrest also resulted in the deaths of two Virginia state troopers who were killed in a helicopter crash.
