BAYTOWN, Texas (KTRK) -- A local military veteran got the gift of a lifetime: a brand new, mortgage-free home.

Retired Army Staff Sgt. Javier Munoz and fiancee Jennifer Kirk were handed keys on Wednesday to the three-bedroom, two-bathroom house on Coastline Street in Baytown.

"It's an exciting day," Munoz said. "It's not every day you wake up and an amazing organization like Freedom Alliance and U.S. Bank hands you keys to a house to aid you in living that American dream of being a homeowner."

Munoz suffers from PTSD and nerve damage along with other combat-related injuries. He is working on his associate's degree in personal fitness training.

U.S. Bank and Freedom Alliance, a veteran support organization, helped make the donation possible.
