2 Louise ISD teachers arrested in separate incidents

WHARTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Louise, Texas, is far away from Houston and the crime of a big city, but trouble has found its way into this little town.

A teacher at Louise Elementary was arrested Sunday. Clifford Hooks was charged with indecency with a child, police said.

Hooks was the coach of boys sports at the school and has been placed on administrative leave, Louise ISD told ABC13.

There was another arrest of a Louise ISD teacher in an unrelated case Friday.

The Wharton County Sheriff's Office and Eagle Lake police arrested Thomas Clay Hosman in his classroom at Louise Junior High.

Hosman is accused of improper photography of a student.

Investigators said there were two students who were recorded on a camera hidden in the girl's locker room while they were undressing.

"He didn't seem surprised when he was told what the charge was," said police chief David Freeman.

The camera was recovered from the locker room, according to Freeman. However, the police chief declined to say how the camera had been disguised.

The Houston Metro Internet Crimes Against Children alerted authorities of the video.

Hosman allegedly uploaded it to the internet, which brought it to the task force's attention.

The school district sent parents letters informing them of Hosman's arrest.

"We spoke directly to the parents of the two students, and informed them of what the accusations were," said superintendent Dr. Garth Oliver.

The students who were allegedly recorded undressing were not notified by the school, so they may be unaware as to what may have happened to them.

"We feel the right to privacy is between a parent and their child," Oliver said.

Oliver said the camera was possibly hidden in the locker room in early March, and there's a high probability that more students may have been recorded without their knowledge.

Wharton County Sheriff Shannon Srubar agreed it's possible other students could have been filmed as well.

"Anyone who has information about this needs to contact the sheriff's office and Eagle Lake police," Srubar said.

The Texas Rangers are assisting in the investigation.

The Houston Metro task force is now conducting a forensic exam of Hosman's computer.

Hosman remains on administrative leave pending a termination hearing.
