HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A woman was found dead inside of her vehicle in a north Harris County neighborhood on Wednesday.

Deputies were called to the scene just before 10 a.m. at the 6600 block of Northleaf Dr. near Antoine.

The body was found in the passenger seat of a blue Ford car, according to deputies. The car had two flat tires and damage to the hood, but it's not clear if the damage was connected to the woman's death.

"I looked in and I thought the lady was sleeping. We walked up and we were like, she's not sleeping. She was already real gray, pale in the face. You could tell she wasn't breathing," said Jason Diaz, who was among the first to spot the woman.

The victim has only been identified as a Hispanic woman in her 30s. She was wearing black pants, a black and white striped shirt and no shoes when she was found. She had a large tattoo on her left arm.

"At 3:30, I heard someone was dragging something, but it was dark. Then my dog started barking, but not like usual -- he was barking hard," said Maria Alvarado, a witness in the neighborhood.

Deputies believe they know the identity of the woman. Residents of the neighborhood said they did not recognize her or the car.

The woman's death remains under investigation.
