HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) --Here is some good news for ladies on "the pill".
New research shows it can protect women from certain cancers for up to three decades, according to the study from the University of Aberdeen.

The study followed 46,000 women for more than 40 years and found that those who took a birth control pill are less likely to develop bowel cancer, endometrial cancer or ovarian cancer.
Despite fears of links to breast cancer, researchers also found that the pill does not cause cancer later in life.
