USA Today describes the Houston Zoo as, "The Houston Zoo is dedicated to bring new and exciting experiences to its animal-loving visitors, experiences like the World of Primates where apes, monkeys and lemurs from around the world can be observed from close range. The African Forest leads visitors on a trek from a small trading outpost into a forest and through to a clearing, hosting chimpanzees, gorillas, rhinos and giraffes. The zoo's 3-acre Asian Elephant Habitat provides a home for seven gentle giants, who enjoy spacious grounds, a large pool and a dust-bathing area."

They describe Fort Worth Zoo as, "Established in 1909, the Fort Worth Zoo is the oldest continuously operated zoo in Texas and home to more than 540 animal species from around the world. More than 100 of those species are part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums Species Survival Plan, and 68 are endangered or threatened. An international leader in Asian elephant conservation, the zoo is also the only one in the country to display representatives from all four Great Ape species - gorillas, bonobos, chimpanzees and orangutans."
