HOUSTON (KTRK) --A three-car crash on the southwest side may be a case of illegal street racing.
This all happened just before midnight on Almeda Road near the Beltway.
Speed was definitely a factor, but its what happened after the crash that really surprised investigators.

Harris County Sheriff's Deputies say a Ford Mustang and a Dodge Charger were coming down Almeda Road at a very high rate of speed.
Apparently both drivers lost control of their cars and hit the median just before the Sam Houston Toll Road.
The Charger then hit a Toyota pickup truck, which went off the road and caught on fire.
The Ford Mustang crashed into a utility pole and was cut in half.
Remarkably, both driver and passenger were okay.
Here's where it gets crazy. According to investigators, the two men in the Dodge Charger got out after the crash, took off their car's license plate and then ran off.
Meanwhile, the two people in the Mustang walked home, but deputies did manage to find them.
Everyone involved is okay, but this is still under investigation and charges could still be filed against the drivers.
