LEAGUE CITY, TX (KTRK) -- Clear Creek High School has been awarded The Touchdown Club of Houston's Sportsmanship Award, which is based on referee evaluations of coaches, players and fan behavior during football games.

The Touchdown Club of Houston is a community-service organization dedicated to the sharing of fellowship through football, according to the organization's website.

The school was honored January 25 at The Touchdown Club of Houston's 12th Annual Comerica Bank Sportsmanship Luncheon, presented by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

There are first, second and third places awarded to area Class 5A teams and Class 4A teams, and first and second places for Class 3A/Private schools.

Teams are judged on their actions on the field, the actions of the support personnel in the stands, such as parents, band and pep squads, the number of personal fouls and unsportsmanlike fouls, and respect for the American flag.

"Winning the Houston Touchdown Club Sportsmanship Award is a huge honor for Clear Creek High School and our community," Principal Jamey Majewski said. "This award is a true reflection of our core values, and as principal, I could not be more proud of our staff, students, and parents."
