The day after the Super Bowl can be a painful one, but one company is trying to make things a little less rough.
Heinz -- yes, the ketchup and mustard brand -- is launching a campaign aimed at establishing 'Smunday' as a national holiday.
The company is putting its money where its mouth is, giving all salaried employees the day off on Feb. 6.
While it may seem like nothing more than a marketing ploy, the campaign could have positive implications in the real world -- Heinz says that 16 million people are expected to call out of work after the Super Bowl, potentially leaving their employer in a lurch.
"The Heinz brand doesn't settle on delivering superior taste or quality and we don't believe America should have to settle on the day after the best sports day of the year," Heinz head Nicole Kulwicki said in a news release. "Making Smunday a national holiday means people all over the country can officially make Monday a day to celebrate too."
Heinz is looking to collect 100,000 signatures on a Change.org petition about Smunday -- a few hours after launch, the petition already has nearly 25,000 signatories.
