Thanksgiving is beginning with a violent shooting in northeast Harris County

HARRIS COUNTY, TX (KTRK) -- Thanksgiving is off to a frightening start for a family in northeast Harris County.

Investigators say they are looking for a man who opened fire on his wife as three children were in the next room.

The husband's name is Carlos Garcia, and he is suspected of shooting his wife in the head.

Deputies say Garcia took off in a white pickup truck with the gun, but not before his 17-year-old child called 911.

The teen was joined in the next bedroom by their 4 and 8-year-old siblings.

The man's wife was rushed to the hospital with a bullet wound to the head.

Miraculously, the woman is expected to be okay.

Deputies say Garcia fired three shots at his wife before running from the scene.

"He did leave with the gun," Sgt. M. Alvarado said. "So we know he has that with him. He's armed and dangerous. We are currently looking for him."

Investigators told Eyewitness News they believe he is still in the area.
