Spring woman returns home to burglars
A Spring-area woman returned home to find two burglars in her home in what she thinks might have been a scam to get her out of the house.

SPRING, TX (KTRK) -- A local homeowner says what she thought was a good deed might have been part of a burglary plan.

Monica Mares says she found three tickets to the Renaissance Festival in her mailbox yesterday. Her boyfriend had been wanting to go, so he went ahead and used the tickets.

While he was gone, she ran some errands, then came home with her two children in the car and walked up to see two men running out of her house with bandannas on their faces.

She says one had a gun.

The house was ransacked; they had set aside some things to take, but didn't get away with them once she arrived, she said.

Mares believes the tickets might have been a ploy to get them all out of the house.

"When I saw them, I had my kids in the car and could have lost my life. I just knew by the voices they were both males then they left," Mares told Eyewitness News.

Anybody with information about the crime is asked to call Houston police.
