Upper Kirby District replaces road construction contractor rebuilding Bissonnet and Kirby

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The Upper Kirby District terminated its relationship with the contractor handling the reconstruction of Bissonnet and Kirby Road after road work halted about a month ago, causing delays.

Recently, construction stopped, leading to a number of questions about the project's status and timeline.

The work, ongoing now for nearly two years will continue with a new contractor the district hired.

Officials will open the intersection of Kirby and Bissonnet as well as the lanes of Bissonnet between Kirby and Dincans by the holidays. The goal is to have all lanes in the area open to travel through the Super Bowl.
