Police say a 56-year-old man called 911 on Thursday saying he wanted to confess to a murder back in 1986.

Lawrence Fox was arrested and charged with murder in the death of 19-year-old Randy Erekson in the 3400 blcok of Blalock on February 18, 1986.

Erekson was found on his bed with several gunshot wounds, according to HPD. Paramedics transported Erekson to Spring Branch Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Investigators developed Fox as a possible suspect in the case, but were unable to obtain enough evidence to charge him.

Police say Fox told investigators the shooting occurred over money owed from a drug transaction.
