SAN DIEGO, CA (KTRK) -- A group of neighbors and protesters are trying to figure out how to get a squatter to leave the California home of an elderly widow.

The group held a protest outside the home in San Diego.

The group says a woman named Cheryl Sherrell has been squatting for months inside the home of 90-year-old Fran Breslauer.

The homeowner hired Sherrell to take care of her dying husband last year. The widow accused Sherrell of acting inappropriately, then asked her to leave, but she never did.

"It's not right, it is absolutely not right and she needs to get out," Dale Camper, a protester

said.

"Did we miss something in society here, why is this person able to stay here when the owner has to leave?"

The squatter filed a restraining order against the homeowner. The squatter claims she has the right to live there because the widow lived with her daughter for a few months.
