Clerk opens fire on robber in shootout, Natasha Barrett reports.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A shootout between a suspected robber and a clerk was caught on camera in west Houston.

In the video, you can see the suspect walk into the Smoke Alley, located on Westheimer Rd. near Fountain View Dr., pointing a gun at the clerk. The clerk grabbed his own gun and started shooting.

"What were you thinking?" abc13's Natasha Barrett asked.

"Grab cover, get my gun and start shooting before he did," Raleigh said.

He says he fired his gun eight times at the suspect, who came in and yelled something at him.

The glass on the front door of the store was shattered during the shooting.

Raleigh says he remembers carefully thinking about what he was doing.

"The main thing was to keep firing low because obviously Westheimer is right there and I don't want to hit like a stray bullet, or a 10-year-old boy in a passenger seat of car or something like that," he added.
