Police say the man refused to stop and led officers on a high-speed chase for more than 35 minutes.

When officers got to Westpark between Gessner and Fondren, the driver allegedly opened fire on a patrol car.

The bullets struck the roof and the windshield of the patrol car, but fortunately, no officers were injured.

The chase ended in the suspect's arrest at Redbud and Danube, where an investigation is still going on this morning.

HPD says the driver threw the gun outside the window of his white pickup truck at one point.

Investigators are still trying to locate that gun.

The man now faces charges of aggravated assault of a police officer.
