HOUSTON (KTRK) --Relieved family members welcomed Nekedria "Keke" Collins back home Thursday afternoon.
She disappeared from her home in northwest Harris County Wednesday night, after her mother, Frankie Collins, says she argued with Keke because she got into trouble at school.
"She ran down the stairs. My son tried to bring her back in but she had disappeared," said Collins.
Collins called the Harris County Sheriffs Office for help searching for her daughter. . Eyewitness News was there as deputies searched the apartment complex. Investigators also talked to the staff at her nearby middle school, and searched this shopping center at West Road and Interstate 45.
"I checked everywhere. I checked Walmart, I checked around here where she walk(s), and she's nowhere to be found. I'm just hoping and praying my baby is OK and no one picked her up and did anything bad to her," said Collins.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office said an older woman picked up "Keke" near the West Road shopping center, and didn't realize at first that she was missing. The woman eventually called authorities and by Thursday afternoon, the Sheriff's Office reunited her with a grateful family.
"Just to give her a hug and a kiss," said Frankie,"to let her know I love her."
