HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A man wanted on an open warrant in Mississippi now faces more charges after leading police in a chase in Houston.

Before midnight, HPD attempted to stop a driver on the Baytown East Freeway near Gregg Street.

Officers say he was driving at a high rate of speed and refused to stop when they attempted to pull him over.

Police pursued the suspect for about eight minutes before the driver entered a neighborhood and crashed on Russell Street at Cavalcade Street.

The suspect was not injured in the accident, and was quickly taken into custody.

At one point, HPD says the man threw something out the window, but weren't about to find it. What they did find were a pair of brass knuckles and several thousand dollars in cash.

The man now faces felony evading charges, plus the warrant from Mississippi.
