HOUSTON (KTRK) --The NAACP Houston chapter gathered Monday afternoon to denounce a "White Lives Matter" protest held Sunday.
Protesters gathered with confederate flags, guns and signs that read "14 words" - a creed synonymous with white supremacist organizations.
"White lives have mattered since Europeans first set foot in the Americas," Congressman Al Green said. "White lives mattered during slavery. White lives mattered during discrimination, which was lawful. Even as discrimination continues today, white lives still mater. Can we say the same of black lives?"
Green says he will contact the Justice Department to make sure they are aware of the protest.
