Bridge construction could delay commute to Memorial schools
Delays in construction on a bridge in Memorial could tie up back to school traffic

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Drivers in the Memorial area should see an increase in traffic with back to school today, but construction delays on a bridge could make the ride to several schools even longer.

The bridge is the fastest route for hundreds of parents to Frostwood and Bunker Hill Elementary School. But a large gate is barricading access to the bridge.

It's not supposed to be like this. Construction was supposed to be finished by the middle of August, but it is unfortunately behind schedule.

The bridge will not be finished for a while, taking longer than expected to finish the project.

Parents going to Frostwood or Bunker Hill Elementary live on the wrong side of the bayou, and for now will need to go way up to Barryknoll or way down to Briar Forest Drive to find a bridge that crosses Buffalo Bayou.

The big question for parents this morning is how long will construction take. Unfortunately, TXDot says it will likely continue until September 10.
