HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A two-year-old is expected to survive after he was shot in the stomach at a north Houston apartment complex.

The shooting happened around 8pm inside a first floor apartment at the Bayou Oaks complex on Ella Blvd. The boy was flown by LifeFlight to the hospital. His mother is at his side.

Houston police say the bullet went clean through the boy's stomach and he's expected to survive.

Officers have gotten conflicting stories and they haven't recovered a gun.

"The juvenile was inside the apartment with other people. We're not sure exactly how he was shot," said HPD Lt. Larry Crowson. "There were several people in the apartment when we got here. We're not sure if that's everybody. That's what we're trying to figure out right now."

Investigators are questioning those inside the apartment. No one has been charged.
