Kids create and deliver sweet goody bags for Deputy Constables in Fort Bend County

FORT BEND COUNTY, TX (KTRK) -- A group of kids in Fort Bend County hopes their goody bags will lift the spirits of law enforcement officers in their area.

"I thought it was very nice," said Luke Guarin. "It's going to mean a lot because of the deaths, and it's very sad for them."

Nearly a dozen kids gathered last week to decorate white lunch bags for officers with Fort Bend County Constable Pct. 3. They used crayons to draw pictures and write appreciation messages for the officers.

"There's not one bag on there that doesn't have respect or love for them," said mother Sally Guarin.

The kids, ages 5 to 10, created 60 bags and stuffed them with several items, including cookies and a McDonald's gift card that was donated. Once all bags were completed, they were delivered to the Constable's office.

"I'm going to try not to cry. Thank you for putting your life on the line every day for our kids. We really appreciate it," said one parent.

"Law enforcement is a thankless job, for the most part," said Constable Rob Cook. ""When something like this does happen, it's very important."
