An elderly homeless man was injured when he was struck by a car on the North Freeway

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police want your help finding a hit and run driver.

Houston police say an elderly homeless man was walking onto an on-ramp of the North Freeway just north of Parker around 2am on Saturday.

Investigators say a driver hit the man and took off.

Witnesses say the driver was in a black Buick. After hitting the man, he headed north on the highway. Officers say the vehicle may have front-end damage.

The victim suffered a number of broken bones and was taken to the hospital.

No word on his current condition.

Officers shutdown I-45 to investigate the crash. All lanes were open by 5 a.m.
