HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A father of three was shot and killed while trying to help a friend who was arguing with an ex-boyfriend.

Police say they were called out to the home after someone threatened to set a car on fire.

When officers arrived, they found Carrillo's body near a black car. Investigators say he had at least one gunshot wound.

A second gunshot victim, the woman's ex-boyfriend, was found in the driveway. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Officers say they are not looking for any suspects, but are now interviewing witnesses.

Carrillo's family tells Eyewitness News they are devastated by the loss of Emmanuel.

"He's a very sweet person, good husband," sister Lilly Carrillo says. "His kids are going to miss him a lot. He's very attached to his kids. He's my little brother. He always wanted to help everybody."

Carrillo now leaves behind three children.
