CHICAGO, IL -- A 25-year-old woman told police she was sexually assaulted by a man who carjacked her in the West Garfield Park neighborhood of Chicago, police said.

Shortly before 4 a.m. March 27, the woman was getting out of her vehicle with her baby in the 200 block of North Kenneth Avenue, police said. An unknown man approached her with a gun and ordered her to get back into the vehicle.

The man then got into the driver's seat and drove away with the woman and child in the vehicle.

The man assaulted the woman and then got out of the car near West Congress Parkway and South Kolmar Avenue, police said. The woman told police that the man ran away.

Neighbors said the woman who was attacked has already moved away.

And residents said they are outraged, and afraid.

"That is very scary," said Helena Fields. "What do I have to do in the meantime until they catch him?"

The woman described the man as a black male between the ages of 40 and 50 years old, wearing blue jeans, a black skull cap and a black jacket with a white logo. The man was between 5-feet-9-inches and 6-feet tall, and had some facial hair.
