HOUSTON, TX (KTRK) --A man has been taken into custody after he allegedly stabbed his mother in southeast Houston.
Investigators say the stabbing occurred at a home at 12811 Sandhurst Drive near East Orem Drive.
Officers say they received a call about a family disturbance, and that is when they found the stabbing victim.
Police say the woman was rushed to the hospital, and is in surgery. She is in good condition, and is expected to survive her injuries.
The suspect, who is in his 30s, is again in the custody of police.
Neighbors told Eyewitness News the victim is like the grandmother for the entire neighborhood, and that they are shocked this happened.
The family is described as 'a good family.'
"This is Sunday. I was hoping everybody was getting up and getting ready to go to church like I am," says neighbor Michael Williams. "It's so unfortunate incident in a place where it shouldn't have taken place."
