Galveston officers buy new basketball goal
Galveston police bought a new basketball goal for kids in Galveston

GALVESTON, TX (KTRK) -- A group of Galveston police officers noticed kids playing on a broken down and dangerous basketball goal, so they did something about it. They got them a new one.

It all started when the officers were responding to an apartment complex about a disturbance call. After making sure everyone was OK, they noticed the kids playing and joined in the game. They noticed the goal the kids were playing on was in horrible condition, so they got the idea to get the kids a new goal.

They were able to get a donation from Academy to buy the goal, and earlier this week, they had it assembled. Then on Thursday, they took the goal out to the complex before the kids returned home.

When those kids got off the bus and saw the new goal the game was on!

Way to go, Officers C. Smith, E. Carlson, Jo Villarreal, J. Villarreal, R. Owens, G. Martinez and N. Alawar.
