HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Several southwest Houston families are looking for assistance after a fire destroyed their homes late Thursday afternoon.

All 10 units at the El Paraiso apartments off Corporate Drive and Hendon were badly damaged.

No residents were seriously injured, but one firefighter cut his hand and had to get stitches at the hospital.

The fire took an hour and a half to put out.

"A lot of vehicles and people standing around kept us from getting to the fire quick enough," explained HFD District Chief Curtis Williams, "and then due to the volume of the fire, we had a hard time getting enough water pressure."

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
