Construction crews take a break for Spring Break

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Spring break week is ahead for many school districts, and luckily TxDOT crews are also taking a break from construction.

Watch for closures along 290 the Northwest Freeway Eastbound from 34th Street to the 610 West Loop. Two lanes are blocked continuously from Friday at 9pm until Monday at 5am. The connector ramps to 610 will also be blocked. Detour to I-10 connector to I-10 Westbound, exit Chimney Rock/Wirt, U-turn to I-10 Eastbound to to 610.

On Sunday, get ready for the annual FM-1960 St. Patrick's Day Parade. FM-1960 (Cypress Creek Parkway) will be shut down between Champion Forest and Kuykendahl, from 1-5pm. Detour to Cypresswood to get around the closure. Both directions of traffic will be blocked.

Also with Spring Break upon us, don't forget to think about your traffic and parking plans as you travel to popular destinations near the medical center, downtown and Hermann Park. Over 350,000 people are expected to visit area attractions daily. You can download METRO's new Q Mobile Ticketing app to purchase bus and rail tickets. Also, consider riding the METRORail to the Rodeo, the Zoo, and Hermann Park. You can also Park along METRORail Red Line at HCC Central Garage (3200 Main), HCC Northline Garage (8001 Fulton), and at Fannin South Transit Center, which is just one rail stop away from NRG.
