Rodeo Houston cook-off contestants will come from across the world for the cookout this year. One group is bringing their cooking talents to the Bayou City all the way from the United Kingdom.

"We're doing fish and chips, is that not a category here?" Scott Munro with Reds True BBQ said.

While they have a sense of humor, they are serious about cooking brisket and competing at this level to learn what makes Texas a BBQ capital.

"To be honest we don't do British BBQ we do slow American true BBQ back in the UK in our restaurant. We actually mimic what you guys do here," Munro added.

The team owns several restaurants in the UK.

"We sell about a hundred tons of meat a month in the UK to about 70,000 people," James Douglas said. "We're absolutely flying the flag for British BBQ."

From the newest team to the oldest team, The Original Longneck Cooking Company has been around from the beginning for more than forty years.

"This hat has been through many years," Jeff Kelly said as he pointed to his hat. "You can tell it's got 7 or 8 years of extra buttons."

There's definitely trash talk behind the scenes and the competition is tough, but for this British BBQ team there's no better way to learn than to surround yourself with champions.

"We can't go back to the UK and learn from grandmothers and granddads," Munro said.

"That's what we've done is learn from the best and go home and done our best," Douglas added.
