Watch for Gulf Freeway, METROrail closures this weekend

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- If you are driving to and from Galveston this weekend, you'll want to avoid driving on the Gulf Freeway between 9pm Saturday and 9am on Sunday.

I-45 will be closed at Dixie Farm Road. Drivers be forced to detour to the feeder road at the Dixie Farm exit.

I-45 the North Freeway will also be shut down northbound between FM 1960 and Cypresswood. The closure will last from 6am Saturday until 5pm Sunday. The best detour is the feeder road, but expect delays.

Finally, METRORail service will be suspended along the Green line between Theater District to Altic/Howard Hughes Stations from 3am on Sunday until 3am on Monday.

METRO will be offering shuttle buses every 10 minutes during the closure to transport riders between the stops. The closures will allow for construction of the GRB SkyBridge.
