Firefighter hospitalized for smoke inhalation after battling fire in Cypress

Firefighter injured during house fire in Cypress
A child and his grandfather escaped after a fire engulfed the garage of a home in Cypress.

CYPRESS, TX (KTRK) -- A firefighter was hospitalized after a blaze overnight in northwest Harris County.

The fire broke out around 10:30pm at a home on Yaupon Mist Drive near Greenhouse Road, in Cypress.

When firefighters arrived, they found smoke and flames pouring through the roof of a garage.

A grandfather and his grandson were able to escape the home without injury. Meanwhile, a firefighter with the Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
