Father fatally shots son
Ohio father kills his son after mistaking him to be an intruder.

CINCINNATI, OH (KTRK) -- A teen boy guilty of skipping school was shot-and-killed by his father after sneaking in a back basement door of their home.

Police say the noise 14-year-old Georta Mack made startled his father. According to investigators, the father confused his son as a home invader and shot him.

In the emotional 9-1-1 call, the father tells the dispatcher that he had shot his son in the neck.

DISPATCHER: "Is he still breathing sir?"

FATHER: "He's trying to breathe."

DISPATCHER: "Trying to breathe, ok."

FATHER: "Oh God. Oh God. Why didn't you go to school?"

"They were very close. They were very close. His dad is actually a good guy too. He was a very good guy," a friend Courtney Williams said. "He always was smiling. He was a real good kid."

Emergency crews took the teen to a Children's Hospital in Cincinnati where he later died.

The Cincinnati Police Department and the Hamilton County Prosecutor's Office are investigating.
