LA PORTE, TX (KTRK) -- La Porte police are looking for a couple of men they believe may be targeting kids in the area.

Last week, police got a report that two men in a work truck tried to lure a seven-year-old girl and a four-year-old boy into their vehicle. The incident happened in the 2200 block of Loc Loma Lane.

According to the children, there were two white males inside the vehicle, and the driver of the vehicle asked them to get in. The children immediately ran away from the truck and to the back yard of their residence, where they told their father what had happened. The dad told police the vehicle took off at a high rate of speed. The incident occurred around 2:15pm.

Diane Hernandez, the boy's mother, told Eyewitness News, ""I called the cops right away because I was like, I'm going to make a report regardless. It's scary! What would have happened if they would have been close enough and they would have grabbed him?"

Hernandez said her son and his cousin were playing right outside her home, as they often do.

LPPD investigators were able to obtain video stills of the suspect vehicle. The children initially described the vehicle as a tow truck, however, after reviewing the stills from the video, it is unclear what type of apparatus is on the back.

Should anyone come across a vehicle looking similar to the one depicted, they're asked to contact La Porte Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division at 281-842-2173.
