HOUSTON (KTRK) --Houston police say a man walked into Finesse Hair Studio at Fondren and Creekbend around 5:40 Friday evening and fired eight shots. All the shots were fired at one man. Police say six bullets hit their target.
"I turned and a man took off running going toward Fondren," says Tina Lambert. "And I seen my friend stumbling out. And I grabbed him, tried to put pressure, and had someone call for 911."
Tina Lambert says all she could do was apply pressure to the wound she saw was bleeding the most until paramedics got here.
"He was going in and out of consciousness," she says.
Houston police say the suspect had a handgun and a rifle. We're told he dumped the rifle in the parking lot, then carjacked a man driving an El Camino nearby, and made the man drive him to a gas station at Almeda-Genoa and 288 where he then called his mom to say he'd shot somebody and needed to be picked up.
"My team that was back in the back, they're loyal but they're scared. I can't be mad at them for feeling the way they're feeling right now," says barber shop owner Jay Brown.
Jay Brown tells us in the two years he's owned the shop, there have never been any problems. He let us in to see the bullet holes. One bullet went through the bathroom wall just over the toilet. He says it could've been much worse if someone had been in the bathroom at the time.
"Finesse Hair Studio, this isn't what we represent. This isn't what we're about."
The victim was taken to Ben Taub. We're told he's expected to survive.
Police are looking into the possibility that this was gang-related.
They believe the suspect lives on the southeast side. And they say if you saw him he'd probably stick out. He's a short very light skinned black male, between 20 and 30. He was wearing a green sweater, yellow shirt, green pants and green shoes. Anyone with information is asked to call HPD Homicide Division.
