HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Houston police are investigating a deadly crash in downtown early Sunday morning.

Officers responded to reports of a vehicle collision just after 3:00 a.m. at the intersection of Houston and Washington Avenue.

A suspected drunk driver of a Nissan SUV failed to stop at a red light at the intersection while traveling northbound on Houston Avenue, according to police, and collided with a Ford Fusion attempting to cross traffic.

Investigators say the driver of the SUV was coming from Rich's nightclub before the accident. Houston Police department will investigate Rich's for possibly over serving the driver whose BAC came back more than twice the legal limit.

The occupant of the Ford Fusion was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver and passenger of the SUV were transported to the hospital. The driver of that vehicle is facing intoxication manslaughter charges.
