Recipes to make your own cleaning products
Skip the cleaning aisle at the grocery store and make these useful household items at home instead.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Skip the cleaning aisle at the grocery store and make these useful household items at home instead.



Homemade Febreze


- Clean empty spray bottle


- 2-4 Tablespoons fabric softener


- 2 Tablespoons Baking Soda



Fill With lukewarm water, Shake and you're done



Or



- Two Tablespoons Crystal or bead fabric softener


- Two Tablespoons Rubbing Alcohol



Fill with Hot water, shake until dissolved



Pet Urine Remover


Process:


- Get as much of the stain up with towels as you can


- Take a paper towel soaked in rubbing alcohol and press firmly into the stain


- Make Solution of 1/2 Cup white Vinegar to 1 cup water Spray on stain while still damp


- Allow to Dry, Finish with Carpet Refresher, Vacuum



If the stain is extremely bad or has already dried, Make solution of


- 2 Tablespoons Baking Soda


- 1/4 cup of 3% hydrogen Peroxide


- 2-3 drops dish soap


- 1 cup cold water



Work it into the stain using gloves or a small brush


Allow to dry and Vacuum away.


***You may need to spot test carpet or fabric first as Peroxide can bleach out colors. This works great on mattresses too.



Carpet Refresher


- 1 cup baking soda


- 2-4 teaspoons dried Herbs, like rosemary, mint, lavender



Place in Zipper Bag and mix together


Sprinkle on your carpet about 15-20 before vacuuming



Jelly Air Fresheners


- Glass Jar- Mason, jelly, or baby food


- Unflavored gelatin


- Food coloring


- 2 tablespoons salt to prevent mold



Or


- Flavored Gelatin Desserts (Citrus works best, but whatever flavor you like)


- 2 tablespoons vodka or other high proof alcohol to prevent mold


- Vanilla extract or Essential Oils



Follow directions on the packet of Gelatin for how much hot and cold water to add, I will reduce the amount of cold water needed by approx.. cup usually.


Add food coloring and Vanilla or Essential Oils to the water you are boiling. Completely dissolve salt and gelatin before adding cold water (and alcohol if using flavored)


Pour into glass jar, you can add flowers, or decorative items to the Gel before it sets. Great gift idea


Also you can layer colors for a fun effect. Just let one set before you start the new one.



Vanilla and Clove Air Freshener


- 1 Cup Water


- 1 Cup Vinagar


- 1 Tablespoon Vanilla


- 1 teaspoon Cloves



Bring to a boil, once cool strain the cloves out and put in spray bottle ** can adjust the vanilla and cloves to your preference.
