Officials in Montgomery County also confirm a mosquito tested positive for West Nile in the south part of the county.

So far, there are no reports of any human cases in either county. Both counties will be spraying affected areas to reduce the mosquito presence.

There are a number of things you can do yourself as well to reduce the mosquito population:

  1. Defend your skin using an insect repellent
  2. Drain any standing water in your yard
  3. Stay indoors at dusk and dawn when mosquitoes are most active
  4. Dress in long sleeves, loose, and light colored clothing while outside
