Spring runway trends at budget prices

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The spring season officially kicks off this week, and there are lots of new fashion trends this season.

You don't need to splurge on all-new wardrobe, but instead add a few key pieces that will keep you looking like a million bucks.

Fashion stylist and style expert Ashley Dunn was in New York City for Fashion Week and is sharing some of the biggest trends from the runways.

One of spring's hottest trends will be head to toe white that will work for everyone.

"So your white dress, your white, jewlery, your white sandals- it's effortless, it's clean, anybody can pull of all white," Dunn said.

Another big trend that may be a little harder to pull off is the return of the culottes. The wide-leg cropped pants were all over the runways for spring 2015.Because of the pant leg's fullness, Dunn says keep the rest of the look fitted.

"If you wear the pant, you want to go slim on the top because the pant is so wide," Dunn said.

If you look back at the spring 2015 fashion shows, you'll be seeing stripes. The classic look can be paired with slacks for the office or on the weekend with shorts.

It wouldn't be spring without flowers, and that goes for in your closet too.

"If you go and shop for your florals for spring, think 3D - something that stands out a little bit more and something that pops in a bold bright color," Dunn said.

Don't put away the denim after the Rodeo! It is also one of this season's most popular fashion statements.

"Don't be afraid to pull out your demin. Mix it up - your denim shirts, your denim shorts, denim skirts, the whole nine...denim," Dunn said.

She also says you don't need to be afraid of wearing denim on denim. Just make sure you choose different washes to create interest.
