Family waiting for answers
A family still doesn't know what caused a fire that killed three family members three months ago

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A family is still searching for answers three months after their loved ones died in a tragic housefire.

The cause of fire is still listed as "undetermined," but that explanation is just not good enough for someone who lost three relatives, three months ago.

Gwen Feige, 63, her son Slade, 25, and Slade's Fiance's Mother Gina Mims all died in the fire back on March 6th.

Ginger Freeman still doesn't know what caused the fire that killed her mother in law and brother in law.

"We're left in the dark. We don't know anything," said Freeman.

Freeman has called the Houston Fire Department's Arson Division twice a week for 12 weeks. She's left messages, but says she hasn't once received a call back.

"I know they're busy, but it takes literally 30 seconds to hit dial on your phone and say I'm sorry we are still investigating," said ###. "That's all I want."

Roughly 70 investigators make up HFD's Arson Division. They are tasked with looking into about 1,000 fires a year. But as time passes, this family's questions aren't getting any easier.

"I guess honestly you want to put blame on somebody and it could not be that, and if it's not- then awesome. But we need to know something. I wanna know why," said fire victim relative Ashlee Feige.

"I think that that would probably bring us quite a bit of closure knowing that we have some answers," said Freeman.

Eyewitness News left messages with the fire investigator on this case. We haven't heard back.
