NEW YORK -- Three movies hit theaters this weekend and they couldn't be more different.

There's a cartoon, a "bring-the-tissues" kind of romance, and a war picture that's very violent.

Each has something recommend it but, is any one of them good enough to get you indoors when the weather's so nice?

"If you think it can't get worse. It can and it will," the trailer for "Fury" said.

The full "Fury" of World War II hit towards the end when U.S. forces drove deep inside the German homeland.

The battles are seen through the eyes of men in a single tank: out-gunned, outnumbered, and forced to defend a crucial intersection.

There's no shortage of great action here and Brad Pitt is believable as a battle-hardened sergeant.

He keeps his men on the move and mentors a newbie.

In "Fury" war is still hell, loud and long, too long for me.

"The Best of Me" has earned some of the worst reviews of the year, but Michelle Monahan and James Marsden fit well together, as old lovers separated by time and tragedy, conveniently reunited after 20 years.

This "weeper" is from novelist Nicholas Sparks who's made a fortune getting readers to cry, but a little less melodrama would have made "The Best of Me" a whole lot better. And it doesn't help that the pair who play the stars as young people, don't look anything like them!

The best movie among these is "The Book of Life", a fanciful cartoon from Mexico that finds joy and music in that country's mythology. It's bursting with color. This is a family film everyone can enjoy.
