HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The University of Houston is the sight of a unique summer camp. Kids are learning how to turn their interests in gadgets into careers.

"I'm making a game currently and I'm hoping to put it on the app store and if it goes well, I might make millions," said 7th grader Reeti.

It's not your average kid summer camp.

"I'm in the game design class for iPhones and iPads," Reeti said.

It's the science technology engineering and math or stem ID Tech Camp, where students age 7 to 17 get a chance to flex their tech muscle by creating apps, video games, programs, robots, movies and website.

Dawson's parents signed him up.

"I said that would be absolutely great," he said.

"You don't have to come in knowing what to do or knowing programming or knowing game design we teach that," said Director of UH I.D. Tech Camp, Yolanda Moore.

ID Tech Camp is offered at 80 universities across the U.S. This class at the University of Houston and there are others offered at universities like M.I.T.., Stanford, Princeton and Harvard.

For Reeti, it was intimidating at first.

"When I first came here I wasn't very excited because I am not a technology person but once I came here I realized that not everyone has to be a technology person to like technology," she said.

But that she has one design under her keyboard.

"There's just the main character, which is a red ball and you have to make it go to the finish line using the space bar," she said.

The sky is the limit.

"I want to be a doctor and this will help me a lot," said Reeti.

"We are creating and molding the minds of our future programmers, our future developers," Moore said.
