HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Move over Elf on the Shelf, there's a new player in town -- JJ Watt on the Spot.

A local Pre-K teacher has adopted a motivational strategy for her classroom this holiday season, encouraging her students to be on their best behavior by modeling after the popular Houston Texan. The 4-year-old Pre-K students in teacher Lindsay Duke's classroom at Bear Boulevard School in Spring Branch ISD eagerly await seeing where the JJ Watt doll will show up next when they arrive at school each day -- much like the popular Elf on the Shelf who visits many families this time of year.

"Our Watt on the Spot is a daily reminder to be good citizens in the classroom, at school and in our day to day lives," explained Duke. "They are excited to come to school each morning to see where JJ is and what he has to say. When JJ broke his hand, we made a cast for our doll, too. It has been the perfect mix of fun and classroom management."

Duke says she likes highlighting a positive role model like Watt. "JJ Watt is a shining example of hard work, dedication and kindness -- all qualities I want to instill in my students, even at just 4 years old."

Duke adds that one of her students -- who comes from a family of Cowboy fans -- has been converted to a Texans fan, thanks to Watt.

The class is pretty sure that JJ is on Santa's "nice" list.
